England Keep Hopes Alive With Dramatic Win

Late Toone Goal Secures Victory Over Netherlands

Ella Toone's late winner kept England's UEFA Women's Nations League hopes alive as the Lionesses beat the Netherlands 3-2 at Wembley on Sunday.

England needed a win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals alive, and they started brightly, with Alessia Russo giving them the lead after just 20 minutes.

However, the Netherlands hit back with two goals in quick succession from Vivianne Miedema and Jill Roord to take a 2-1 lead into half-time.

England came out fighting in the second half, and Georgia Stanway equalised with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Toone then completed the turnaround with a close-range finish in the 83rd minute to secure a vital victory for England.

The result leaves England in second place in Group A, two points behind leaders the Netherlands.

England's final group game is against Switzerland on Tuesday, and they will need to win to have any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.
