San Diego Padres prospect Tucupita Marcano has been suspended for betting on baseball games, according to multiple reports. The 21-year-old infielder was placed on the injured list on April 1 with a hamstring injury.
Marcano is a native of Venezuela and was signed by the Padres as an international free agent in 2016. He made his Major League debut in 2020 and batted .231 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 44 games.
Betting on baseball games is a violation of Major League Baseball's rules and regulations. Players who are found to have bet on games can be suspended or even banned from the league.
